STUDENT REPORTS ON COLLABORATION BETWEEN LSU & RIVERS ARE LIFE
Through the collaboration between Rivers are Life and LSU, student worker Ben Hagen has played a key role in bridging scientific research with public engagement. His work has focused on producing multimedia content, developing educational materials, and assisting with hands-on environmental research. By partnering with professionals from Rivers are Life, DOW, and LSU researchers, Ben has helped promote river conservation and ecosystem preservation through storytelling and outreach.
One of his key contributions has been interviewing researchers and scientists to better understand the impact of their work. This includes discussions with experts working on microplastics research, field studies on the Amazon and Mekong Rivers, and local conservation initiatives. His work has helped translate complex scientific studies into engaging content for public awareness. Additionally, he has been involved in creating lesson plans for the Watershed Warriors film, tailoring them for different grade levels to educate students on environmental issues.
This experience has provided Ben with invaluable skills in environmental communication, media production, and scientific outreach. By working alongside researchers and conservation professionals, he has gained a deeper understanding of how multimedia can be used to inform and inspire action on critical environmental issues. His role in this initiative reflects the power of student-led contributions to conservation and sustainability efforts.
THANK YOU TO OUR PARTNERS
"This opportunity has allowed me to take part in meaningful conservation efforts while learning how to communicate environmental issues in a way that connects with the public.
