CREATING CHANGE GLOBALLY WITH THE BAG THAT BUILDS
Rivers are Life is excited to pursue a project with the Center for Regenerative Design and Collaboration (CRDC) by supporting their The Bag That Build initiative. Together we will support local waste and recycling efforts, education programs, and host a cleanup throughout 2023 and 2024.
The collaboration kicked off with our donation to fund the creation of 50,000 bags to be used at several cleanups, starting in the Dominican Republic in September 2023.
The bags have been getting a LOT of exposure in York, PA. We're distributing about 250 bags per week. And we're looking into getting a chunk of the bags into a project in Costa Rica.
Since we started using the bags in York, we have used them to collect approximately 18 tons of non-recyclable plastic waste which has kept 51.5 tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere (if the plastic were not converted into RESIN8, it would have been burned in the York County incinerator).
ABOUT CRDC
The objective of CRDC is to create appreciating value from the world’s plastic waste by converting it into RESIN8™, an Eco-Aggregate that improves concrete. The Bag That Builds program distributes bags as part of a regular waste collection process or at designated collection points. Once CRDC receives these bags, they convert the plastic waste (bag included) into RESIN8, which has multiple applications, from high-end infrastructure to affordable climate resilient homes.
A STRENGTHENING PARTNERSHIP
This new collaboration between CRDC and Rivers are Life will help make progress in our joint missions to clean up our waterways and address the world’s waste problems in an inspiring, sustainable way. This includes cleanups, promotions, production of The Bag That Builds, and education.
This project will kick off with a donation from Rivers are Life to fund the creation of 50,000 bags, which will be used at a number of cleanups starting in the Dominican Republic in September 2023. Rivers are Life will also assist with planning where the bags will be used, ensuring they are made available to communities in need, along with marketing and communications support.

THANK YOU TO OUR PARTNERS
“The Bag That Builds program, sponsored by Rivers are Life has transformed the way York County manages its plastic waste. In the 9 months since the sponsorship began, over 18 tons of non-recyclable plastic have been kept out of the county incinerator, which has kept 51.5 tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere. The program allows the community members themselves to drive significant environmental benefits.”
