PARTNERING WITH LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY
Educational Partner
LSU’s role as educational partner allows us to work together as we champion educational initiatives that empower the next generation of river conservationists.
The Center for River Studies at LSU houses one of the world's largest movable bed physical models, a 10,000 square foot replication of the topography and bathymetry of the Mississippi River Delta. The model replicates the flow, water levels and sediment (sand) transport of the river, giving scientists, engineers and students a model to conduct research. The center’s interactive exhibit space offers opportunities for guests of all ages to learn more about the history of the Mississippi River, Louisiana’s disappearing wetlands, and ongoing coastal restoration projects across the coast.
With collaborative coastal and waterways research, Louisiana State University (LSU) works to advance research capacity and build upon existing areas of strength to achieve scalable solutions for the world’s major rivers, with a special focus on the Mississippi River in the United States. This partnership provides avenues for LSU students to gain meaningful experiential learning opportunities, positioning them to be the leaders of tomorrow.
“One thing that we all need to be aware of is the consequences of small actions and how you can have cumulative impacts.”
