PROJECT: MONTAGUE ISLAND CLEANUP WITH GOAK
Solutions to Address Waste
June & July, 2025 | Montague Island, AK | Gulf of Alaska
IN PROGRESS
CLEANING UP THE ALASKAN COAST
We are proud to join the effort to restore the remote shores of Montague Island through a hands-on volunteer cleanup with Gulf of Alaska Keeper. As part of our mission to protect global river systems and their connected ecosystems, we recognize that marine debris doesn’t just impact coastlines—it threatens the health of rivers, oceans, and the communities that rely on them. The Gulf of Alaska is a critical intersection between freshwater and marine environments, and the accumulation of up to 30 tons of debris per mile on Montague’s shores is an urgent call to action.
This project is more than just debris removal—it’s a powerful opportunity to contribute to a healthier planet. By volunteering, we’re standing alongside scientists, conservationists, and coastal communities to tackle pollution at one of its worst accumulation points in the country. Together, we’re sending a message: waste doesn’t belong in our waters. The Montague Island cleanup aligns with our larger goal to complete 1,000 global impact projects by 2050, and we’re proud to be part of this vital work to protect interconnected water systems—upstream, onstream, and downstream.
