STORIES HAVE THE POWER TO CHANGE THE WORLD

As part of our on going education goal, Rivers are Life is proud to support Fresh Coast Film Festival as they bring 80+ new films focusing on adventure, conservation and inspirational outdoor stories.

Film Festivals are a great way to connect with an audience of like-minded, inquisitive community members and have impactful conversations about the Rivers are Life initiatives that are showcased in the films.

Two Rivers are Life films Premiered at Fresh Coast in 2024:

Toxic Art: Artist, John Sabraw has been working for more than a decade with a team of scientists and activists to address his community’s issues with acid mine drainage poisoning local waterways. Paintings created with pigments derived from this environmental scar have been part of a campaign to build awareness for the issue and raise funds for developing water treatment processes aimed at restoring these streams while upcycling toxins into pigments for paints that other artists can utilize

Kings of the Kenai: The Kenai River flows more than 80 miles through the stunning U.S. state of Alaska. The Kenai River Sportfishing Association (KRSA) was founded 30 years ago by Bob Penney with a strong and clear mission: sustain the Kenai River’s King salmon population in order to preserve the Kenai’s status as the greatest sportfishing river in the world. Over the years KRSA has grown and developed numerous conservation and sustainability projects to support the health of this one-of-a-kind waterway, several of which are explored in our film, Kings of the Kenai.

THANK YOU TO OUR PARTNERS

“The financial support of Rivers are Life is fundamental to Fresh Coast's survival as a largely volunteer-run non-profit organization, but beyond the dollars and cents, knowing there are organizations and brands like you also helps sustain us emotionally in our mission. We know we have others in our corner, and that's priceless.”
